Julie A. Thomas, Ph.D. |
In 2010, Julie Thomas opened Doggie Paddle Canine Therapeutic Swimming and Exercise. After successful careers as an educator, biomedical communications producer/manager, technical training project manager and technical writer, Julie decided that her true passion was working with dogs, especially senior dogs, in a wellness centered environment. Her doctoral studies centered on Adult Learning, Organizational Communication and Gerontology. Studying the “aging” process in humans, such as the age related patterns of physical and emotional changes have been instrumental in her success with senior dogs, as well as providing information and support to their owners. The transition from high tech to working with animals began with completing courses in Small Animal Massage at NW School of Animal Massage. After discovering the field of canine water therapy, Julie, a life-long swimmer and swim coach, researched, enrolled in, and completed courses in Canine Water Therapy at La Paw Spa.
